Send It Hollywood / CicLAvia August 18

PLEASE READ ENTIRE NOTES FOR RIDE INFORMATION (Facebook or Strava RSVP):

Last year we had such a great ride switching it up with our urban adventure, that with another open streets event taking place this time on one of the world’s most famed streets.

CicLAvia is coming back to Hollywood Blvd and we’ll be riding by even more iconic spots going up into the hills.

Because this is a very large event and parking will be impacted, PLEASE READ THESE IMPORTANT TIPS on getting there:

  • CicLAvia closes off major streets and parking near the start will be difficult and harder to leave, but it’s a central point on their route.
  • While the event runs from 9am – 4pm, they do start shutting down streets for vehicular traffic around 7am, it’ll be easy to navigate to the start.
  • My best recommendation for parking is towards the western end in Beverly Hills (see RWGPS above). If you’re coming from the east, Commonwealth will be your best shot and right off of Nichols Canyon coming from the Valley.
  • Metro Rail (Line B / RED) is a great option with the closest stop being Hollywood & Highland. You can catch with from a number of spots including Union Station or Universal City in the Valley.
CicLAvia Hollywood Map

Our route is only 30 miles, but has a robust amount of climbing at almost 3,800 feet of gain.

We’ll be riding by a number of landmarks including the Hollywood Reservoir, Griffith Observatory and the most famous sign in the world.

Please read over our general ride notes that will dictate this meetup:

  • The climbing is HARD with These are not rides for beginners or those working their way back.
  • We will be meeting at 8am and rolling at 8:15 sharp in front of Plummer Park Hub (7377 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood 90046)
  • There will be a number of regroups, but once everyone’s back, we roll!
  • This is an unorganized ride with no support. Everyone rides at their own risk and riders are free to leave at any point.
  • Make sure to bring your own tubes and a couple of water bottles. We’ll be stopping at mile 18 for refills.
  • Our route has limited dirt and can be done on a road bike. I’ll be riding with 32mm tires.
  • This will not be race pace. At the same time, you have to be in the good to great shape range to do this ride. If you’re just getting back into riding, I suggest you read Rule #1 again.

The ending portion of our route will take place along the Meet the Hollywoods course where there will be thousands of cyclists abound and people are free to wander.

We’ll be stopping for post-ride along the course where there’s space, so a small lock would be ideal.

Otherwise, please RSVP and see you August 18th!
