Please RSVP on Strava and Facebook
Just like our LA Urban along with 626 Golden Streets in 2023, we’ll be riding through Northeast LA linking up with CicLAvia on Sunday, October 11th..
We’ll be going in and out of the hills including a stop at Eldred St, the infamous steepest street in the city before linking up with the open streets event in Lincoln Heights.
Our route will go through a majority of their course passing through downtown, then heading up to Echo Park riding some dirt in Elysian Park.
We will be meeting at 10 Speed Coffee coffee at 8am along the LA River Bike Path in Frogtown (3014 Worthen Ave Bldg C) with the ride rolling out at 8:30am.
Some important details to review for the ride:
- This isn’t our most difficult ride, but there are patches of climbing. Please be ready for the efforts.
- Meet for coffee at 8am. The ride will instructions promptly at 8:30am. Helmets required.
- There will be a number of regroups, but once everyone’s back, we roll! We will be stopping for historical tidbits along the way.
- We will be riding on urban roads for a portion, so please be comfortable with that.
- Parking can be found in the neighborhood streets, but get there early and don’t leave valuables out.
- Make sure to bring your own tubes and a couple of water bottles(we will stop a couple of times for water). Everyone rides at their own risk.
- This is a road bike capable route, but there will be a few short sections of dirt included.
- This will not be race pace as it’s a group ride. At the same time, you have to be in the good shape range to do this ride. If you’re just getting back into riding, I suggest you read Rule #1 again.
The route will cover roughly thirty miles with some climbing along the way, but only 2,600 feet of gain. You can download the route here (blue is CicLAvia):
Some of the ride’s highlights include the Sixth Street Viaduct, Elysian Park, Red Car Trolley artifacts, Mount Washington Railway, the LA River Path and a number of other landmarks.
We will also be stopping in front of Eldred Street, the steepest in LA which won’t be a required climb, but also a fun watch.
Afterwards, we’ll be post-gaming at Frogtown Brewing (pro tip: park there at the start), so plan on a longer day!
Please RSVP on Strava and Facebook and look forward to seeing you October 11th.
