Send It East Bay: CANCELLED Berkeley Hills Nov 24th

PLEASE READ ENTIRE NOTES FOR RIDE INFORMATION (Facebook or Strava RSVP):

Due to the coming rains, our Nov 24th Send It is cancelled. We look to reschedule hopefully the following spring.

We’re coming back to the Bay Area to place where I first hit dirt as we’ll be riding up and into the Berkeley Hills.

Our route similar to our previous gravel guide avoiding the steeper residential climb while hitting a few more sectors of dirt at the same time.

This is also BIG GAME weekend for the Cal / Stanford rivalry, so you’re encouraged to take sides wearing blue & gold or cardinal & white.

If you need help we’re releasing a special GBC tech tee that should match the colors of the team holding the Axe on the Saturday at our Jakroo shop (Order before WEDNESDAY, Nov 5th to get it before the ride):

GBC Cycling Apparel Shop

We’ll be meeting at Hal’s Office for coffee (1207 Solano Ave, Albany) at 8:30am rolling out at 9:00am SHARP!

The route will take us north into Wildcat Regional Park where we’ll hit a number of single track and fire road options.

Both the climbing and surfaces will hit a wide range, so good gearing and wide tires will serve you best.

We’ll descend into North Berkeley ending up at the cycling friendly Headlands Brewery (1280 Gilman St.) just up the street from where Green Day cut up the rug.

Some important ride notes:

  • The climbing is HARD with These are not rides for beginners or those working their way back.
  • There will be a number of regroups, but once everyone’s back, we roll!
  • Make sure to bring your own tubes and a couple of water bottles.
  • Riding tires 40mm and above will do the trick for most, as the climbs are steep and there’s some soft patches on the dirt descents, as well as loose pavement on the road.
  • This will not be race pace. At the same time, you have to be in the good to great shape range to do this ride. If you’re just getting back into riding, I suggest you read Rule #1 again.

There is a gap from the start and finish of the route and while there is street parking available, please check nearby signs for restrictions.

Two water bottles should be enough, but we will be stopping for water if needed.

So, get ready to Roll On and please RSVP on Facebook or Strava to get UPDATES for the ride!
